AgriStack Farmers Registry Crosses 9.20 Crore Farmer IDs Nationwide

AgriStack Farmers Registry

New Delhi: India’s digital agriculture ecosystem has achieved a major milestone as the AgriStack Farmers Registry has surpassed 9.20 crore Farmer IDs across the country, strengthening the government’s push towards data-driven agricultural governance and service delivery.

The State Farmers Registry under the AgriStack Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) encompasses all landholding farmers, including women farmers, as well as those engaged in livestock and fisheries.

It provides them with a unique digital identity known as a Farmer ID. The AgriStack Farmers Registry application also includes provisions to onboard cultivators such as tenants and sharecroppers, ensuring wider inclusion within the agricultural ecosystem.

As of March 19, 2026, more than 9.20 crore Farmer IDs have been generated nationwide under AgriStack, including 47.63 lakh Farmer IDs in Bihar, reflecting strong adoption across states.

The initiative continues to expand its footprint, bringing more farmers under a unified digital framework.

The Government has been consistently evaluating the outcomes of AgriStack, particularly its role in enabling seamless integration with Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) schemes.

These include registrations under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna (PM-KISAN), Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna (PMFBY), Minimum Support Price (MSP)-based procurement systems, access to institutional credit, input distribution, and disaster relief mechanisms.

AgriStack Farmers Registry: Streamlining Service Delivery and Enhancing Farmer Welfare

Through AgriStack, farmers can access multiple benefits through a single verified identity, significantly improving efficiency and transparency.

States are actively leveraging AgriStack farmers registry to streamline service delivery and enhance farmer welfare. Maharashtra, for instance, has successfully utilized AgriStack for scheme delivery, Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based advisory services, improved credit access, and disaster relief efforts.

Notably, the state facilitated the transfer of over ₹14,000 crore to 89 lakh farmers within five days for Kharif 2025 crop losses, demonstrating the efficiency of AgriStack-enabled systems.

Similarly, Chhattisgarh has institutionalized the use of Farmer ID and Digital Crop Survey under AgriStack for MSP-based paddy procurement. The initiative covered over 32 lakh farmers in a single season, significantly improving ease of registration, transparency in crop verification, and timeliness of MSP payments.

The adoption of AgriStack farmers registry has enabled better governance outcomes and reduced procedural delays.

Despite rising internet penetration in rural India, the government has taken additional measures to ensure inclusive access to AgriStack.

Farmers without mobile phones can utilize existing support structures such as Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), KrishiSakhis, and Common Service Centres (CSCs) to register on AgriStack and access its benefits. Furthermore, states are organizing special camps to ensure that no farmer is excluded from the AgriStack ecosystem.

The continued expansion of AgriStack farmers registry highlights the government’s commitment to building a comprehensive digital backbone for agriculture, enabling efficient delivery of services and ensuring that benefits reach farmers in a timely and transparent manner.
